I finally understand why female literature students swoon over Mr. Darcy from Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. I haven’t read the book yet, but instead, I watched the 2005 adaptation starring Keira Knightly. Why haven’t I read the book yet? Simple. For the last three years I’ve struggled to read past the third page. I’ve even gone as far as getting the audio-book and trying to read while listening to the narrator, and that didn’t work either. Surprisingly though, I watched the entire movie last night without flinching from my seat, and I really, really, really liked the movie.
Who knows, maybe now that I’ve watched - and liked - the movie, I can probably read the book without feeling like burning it to a crisp. Finally my problem with Pride and Prejudice is partially solved!

I’m not really sure why (I’m serious, I really don’t know why), but I’ve been singing Carly Simon’s You’re So Vain out loud over the last two days.
I really don’t know what the hell’s going on in that overexerted brain of mine. I’ve mentioned my finals are starting tomorrow, right? I’m not ready for statistics on Sunday, but hey, that’s expected seeing as I suck at numbers; great, yet another crappy grade that’ll cause my GPA to plummet even further.
You know, what I really want to do, is pack my bags, and fly the hell out of here. I don’t care if it’s for a three days, a week, a month, a year, or forever. I really need a change of scenery.

My finals start on Saturday, and instead of studying I’ve been watching movies, and hanging out with my bestie Soska (she’s back from the UAE!)
Within the last week I’ve seen:
Les Poupeés russes.
An American Crime.
The Darjeeling Limited.
Catch and Release.
Monster.
Enchanted.
Alright, it’s almost 2 AM and I’m insanely tired. I’ll leave you with a video, that had me in stitches, featuring British comedienne Catherine Tate and British actor David Tennant.

DT: You are pointless, repetitious and extremely dull.
CT: A bit like Shakespeare.
Amen to that! I hate Shakespeare, and I think he’s totally overrated.
Coldplay’s latest music video of their latest single Violet Hill, from their fifth studio album Viva La Vida and All His Friends (release date: June 16th), has been released!!! I seriously can’t contain my excitement! I’ve watched the video over eight times already; tell me to stop!
Yalla, watch it!

I first watched West Bank Story during the Palestinian Film Week held at Kuwait University last month, and I loved it! So basically it’s a parody of West Side Story set in, well you guessed it, the West Bank in Palestine. Oh, and ever since I found it online (stream below), I’ve watched it (no exaggerations) fifteen times; yes, I have a lot of time on my hands. Okay, so I don’t really have a lot of time on my hands, but the fact that the movie is a little under 20 minutes makes it so tempting to watch over and over again!
A musical comedy set in the fast-paced, fast-food world of competing falafel stands in the West Bank. David, an Israeli soldier, falls in love with the beautiful Palestinian cashier, Fatima, despite the animosity between their families’ dueling restaurants. Can the couple’s love withstand a 2000 year old conflict and their families’ desire to control the future of the chic pea in the Middle East?
(How cute is the tagline?!)
Stream the full movie below before it disappears (doesn’t take so long to buffer).

Katy Perry, the woman behind UR So Gay, is back with yet another infectious track, I Kissed a Girl, off her upcoming album, One of the Boys (release date: June 17th).
I’ve been having dreamless sleeps for a while now, and I can’t help but wonder what’s causing this dream-drought. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that I haven’t been feeling very well for a while. I hate this; hell, I’ve been hating a lot of things lately. This dwelling of negative feelings is really taking its toll on me.
How about I list happier thoughts, and things I’m really looking forward to?
My best friend, Soska, is flying in from the UAE in 5 days, and I’ve been looking back to her return for months!
Next week I’ll be done with classes.
I’ll be free from finals June 8th.
I can’t wait till I start reading for leisure without feeling guilty I’m taking time out of studies.
Leaving you with Lavinia by The Veils (which you probably won’t enjoy, but hey, it’s worth a shot!)
I prefer the album version of the track. Anyway, click here if you have problems watching the above embedded video.
I have a research paper due in less than 24 hours, and I’m nowhere near finished, nowhere! I don’t think I can cope with the pressure resulting from this paper, I really don’t. It’s a term paper on gestures used in seven different operatic adaptations of the same play we’ve been watching in class. Oh, and I need to mention that I had no choice on the play nor the topic of my paper, which probably explains why I’m finding such difficulty writing a (single-bloody-spaced) ten-page research paper.
Okay, now that I’m done ranting about my paper, I’d like to share two videos I watched last night.
In a two-part series Al Jazeera relives the tragic narrative of the Palestinian Nakba (catastrophe) through the stories of one street in the city of Jaffa.
Part 1:
Part 2:

I’ve reached the second stage, and yes, I’ll bite you in the face if I have to. Try not to piss me off until I’ve reached the fourth stage.
On a lighter note, I’ve really taken to blogging again; a few months ago this blog was almost abandoned, and now I can’t stop posting! Aren’t you the luckiest readers ever? (I need the ego boost.)
No fancy sophisticated words and full of grammatical errors. This is just a place where Sou can THINK OUT LOUD! This blog is a sneak peek at her complicated brain, mellow heart and colourful life. Enjoy!
