Laptop Hunting
August 27th 2006 by Sou in Gadgets, Personal, ShoppingIt’s been a year since I bought my Acer Travelmate and I’m planning on buying a new laptop because erm, my Acer kind of died *sigh*
I’ve got a 450KD budget, but I’m not really sure what brand I don’t want an Acer, I’ve had enough breakdowns, In a year all my 4 USB ports have died, my bluetooth doesn’t work and my touchpad has committed suicide at least 3 times; I’m through with Acers. I want a heavy duty, yet chic laptop; do they even make those?!! *thinks*

plsssssss dont make the mistake of buying an Acer…they are crap. either HP, Toshiba or Soney. But with your budget I would say an HP or even IBM T60 is good.
Macbook 13 inch.. 3ajeeb.. i mean i saw it and fell in love with it straight away.. Check it out. If you are not familar with apple.. it now come withs microsoft.. so no problemo! ;)

Psst.. I’d say ditch the computers above and get a Dell Inspiron. Eureka has a 25% discount on the stuff they sell until the end of the week. You should probably find that there. That’s where I bought my mp3 player because I’m a bit broke these days. :-(.

I would have to say go Mac Book as well! I would like to get one but since I already have my Ferarri and an IBM T43 I don’t need a 3rd laptop!
If you aren’t into Macs then I would say go HP! Stay away from Sony!
Stallion :- why no Sony, i have one and i love it, been with me for 3 years now and it is still running like the day i bought it .. There isn’t a game out there i can’t play on it even.
Sou:- Sony’s are my fave they are nice and classy but they are expensive compared to similar models from other brands, if you can go for the Macbook then GOO..

Get the new MacBook. Chique, Sexy and yet very very powerful.
You can also run the lame windows on it as well.
Try a Sony VAIO, it’s the best on the market. I’m not sure about the price though, it might be too expensive!
I have the Dell inspiron 700m for a year now, so far no complaints :)
Fractal00 : I know about 9 people who have Sony Laptops and only 2 of them like it! The rest either have things failing on them but most have crappy WiFi connectoins! My co-worker has a Sony and he can’t get connected to the WiFi at work cause he can’t find it! He sits closer to the access point than I do! I start my Acer up and I find the connection and use it without any issues while he just can’t get it!
for windows: get an HP
or get a macbook 13inch for mac os

Fuzzy: I checked it out while I was at Eureka and I didn’t like it very much, it looked to sharp for me, and a little too small. Other than that, the specs were fab, just not my type though :p
