Sou thought out loud in Blog, Friends, Fun, Personal, Crazy, Shopping

Seriously! I AM!! I was at my university’s car boot sale on Thursday for the sole purpose of buying books (naturally) and i erm…bought *cough* 11 *cough* books…yup, i bought 11!! hehehe…

  1. The Blind Assassin - Margaret Atwood
  2. The Shining - Stephen King
  3. Rose Madder - Stephen King
  4. Getting Even - Martine Oborne
  5. In Her Shoes - Jennifer Weiner
  6. Name Dropping - Jane Heller
  7. The Blue Bedspread - Raj Kamal Jah
  8. Murder on the Orient Express - Agatha Christie
  9. Girls’ Night Out/ Boys’ Night In - Various Authors
  10. Tell Me Lies - Jennifer Cruise
  11. Dazzle - Judith Krantz (I got this one for JaCkie) :D

Wow! a lot books, ya? Well to make matters worse, i went shopping with my mother that very afternoon and bought ‘The Lovely Bones’ by Alice Sebold From ‘The Family Booshop’!! eek! so many books, SO little time!!!

Alrighty, let me tell you about Thursday!! So i went to the car boot sale thingie and bought a billion books (ok, 11!!) and as i was walking by a stall ‘Girls’ Night Out/Boys’ Night In’ caught my eye, i’ve been looking for that book for nearly a year (so you could only imagine how excited i was!!) There it was for 250fils (around 75cents?), waiting for me to pick it up and leave! As i stood there, trying to squeeze myself thru the masses of girls (ok, so there were about 4!! lol) i picked up the book and there he was, the guy standing at his stall, talking to the girls, smiling, and i mean SMILING!! He spotted me and attended to me straight away (isn’t that sweet?!) The girls left and the guy selling asked me if i liked books and for some reason i looked at my bag, afraid that the books i had already bought were overflowing from my bag! (they weren’t *phew*) So he asked for my name and i got his, let’s call him “F the book man”, “F” for short. So F kept on talking, and then he asked me a question, a question i never thought he’d ask!!! (i’m making this sound like a soap opera, right?!) lol…ok, so i’m being a little dramatic, let me live the part a little!!!

F asked me if i had a blog!! EEK!! i mean, it’s not everyday someone has asked me that question, as a matter of fact, NO BODY has asked me that question!!! ARGH!!! I couldn’t even look at his face, and i was erm…in denial, clutching at the book with my life, afraid that i was going to say something stupid, err…i mean, if F has read my blog, it means he knows every teeny weeny detail, eek!! How freaky! Right, so F, is a sweet guy, he said he enjoyed reading my blog, isn’t that sweet, and now i have a real-life fan! People, I’m loved! yey! F, you’re probably reading this, are you laughing or are you dreading the moment you asked me if i had a blog, well you knew i was going to write about what happened in here ;) hehehe…well i’m glad i know i have a real fan out there, one i get to see everyday :D

You know what i concluded after that encounter, that it’s easier typing out personal information and emotions, knowing that the ppl reading what you type don’t know who you really are. I love the secret identity, i love it when people try to figure out what the symbols mean, i love my parallel universe. Well, tell me..don’t you like it too? Writing about things you won’t tell people you know but share with the world, complete strangers?! Scary thought right, but we’re doing it anyways! wow!

F, (the sweetest guy i’ve met all week)–gave me the books i wanted for free! if that’s not sweet i dunno what is!! thanx a gazillion!) :D I’ll see you around university some time ;)

Righty, that was Thursday, let’s talk about Friday–o good God! M and i went to Marina Mall, we hadn’t gone there together in a month, eek! and of course, we shopped, shopped and SHOPPED!!! i bought a fragrant oil burner and ‘Fruity Violet’ oil from the Body Shop, it’s AMAZING!!! ;D We also went to Claire’s, M was looking at the head bands and i was just, well i wasn’t doing anything really, just watching her pick out cute butterfly head bands, so these two kids walked in, they weren’t older than fourteen, a girl and a boy. the girl started speaking in french and the boy responded back in english. She was trying on head bands as well…when she asked the boy what he thought of her head bands, he responded by saying:

“Oh My God! Like that is SO 1994!! Like, that was SO 11 YEARS AGO!!”

What did i do in a past life to deserve such torture?! LOL!! you could only imagine my face afterwards. When the “couple” left, M and i imitated them, yes in Claire’s *sigh* we could be so childish sometimes!

M and I came back to my place after the Marina Mall escapade, and we chilled here, had dinner and she left at around 10-ish, we were watching Identity, i still don’t understand what happened at the end!!! Anyways, i went to bed at around 11.45-ish, i’ve been awake since. Actually i’ve been awake since 10:30am yesterday, 24hrs 30mins ago, OMG!! what the hell have i been doing, well i couldn’t sleep so i started reading!! I read ‘The Lovely Bones’ it’s an amazing book, the genre will suit anybody. It’s gr8, so pop down to any bookstore close to you and GET IT!! it’s for 3.900KD (around $11.70) from The Family Booskshop. (if you’re wondering why i’m converting Kuwaiti Dinars into US Dollars, it’s because if ppl don’t know what Kuwaiti Dinar are, they’ve got US Dollars to relate to!!—smart, right ;p)

Well i’ve been rambling for what seems forever!! I’d better get my self to bed, i’ll probably get up in about 5 hrs because i’ve got my History Midterm on tomorrow and i need to study for it (THE HORROR, THE PAIN!!!)

Sou | March 27th, 2005

Hey Moe!

Erm, no he wasn’t, he wasn’t tall and he was quite light…

And plus, the girl was speaking french, not the boy ;p

Wow, firstly, your post was epic in length, cute, and interesting! And I want to say thank you soo much for that nice refrence to my blog, God knows it needs the traffic.
Oh and I’ve read the Blind Assasian by Atwood, and it’s great. I’m a really big fan of hers…are you? I think you’d like her other books, like The Handmaid’s tale…very 1984 “ish”.
And running into F who reads your blog! That is just so weird and cool.
Well I hope your History Midterm goes well. Good luck and hope you get some more sleep.
take care..

Preternatural_aL | March 27th, 2005

Lol, okay, I just know a french-speaking person who would SO totally say something like that, lol.
Blogs are SO late 2004. ;p

Sou | March 27th, 2005

Eyes o.a. Tragedy: Was it long? really? lol, i just kept on typing and typing and typing :P heheh..

Your blog really is fanstastic, it’s just that nobody’s found it yet!!

‘The Blind Assassin’ is the first book i’ve bought by Atwood, i’m not sure what her writing style is like, but the storyline seemed interesting!

And about F, you’re right, “weird and cool”. I was a little freaked out actually :p

I had my midterm today and eek!! :|

Al: Well when i bought ‘Rose Madder’ the woman i bought it from said it was different to his “usual” style of writing, so when i read it i’ll tell you how it turns out!

You read Murder on the Orient? Don’t tell me, PLEASE! Maybe when i’m done reading this we could critique it, whatcha think? hehe..

And i mentioned F for the fact that he knew who i was!! Eek! I mean, come on, Al, what would you do if someone came up to you and asked you out of the blue if you had a blog?!! eek and double eek! But don’t you think it was cute that he gave me the free books?! ;p

SwAiR: I’m reading it now, seems really nice actually, flowing smoothly! I haven’t seen ‘The Shining’ my friend said he’d give it to me to watch if i “survived” the book–not very comforting words :p

Why’d you wanna know if F is cute? lol, well i was soo embarrassed around him i kinda couldn’t look at his face much, and he had his sun glasses on, SwAir, i don’t know if he’s single and i’m sure after this comment he’ll be reading your blog ;) And plus, SwAiR, I’M your real life fan!! ;p

Purg: You’re just jealous you couldn’t make it from the Netherlands to the scorching heat of Kuwait to attend the car boot sale and buy so many books :p

Moe: Lol, well his “SO” phrases are SO 1990s!! LOL!!

The things we have to put up with :p

Purgatory | March 27th, 2005

wait and see symbol, wait and see :P

Sou | March 28th, 2005

Purgy: How long do i have to wait?

Nomad | March 28th, 2005

Would I happen to know this Mr. F? :)

Almond | March 28th, 2005

Nice Picks!
I *heart* Agatha Christie!

dave | March 28th, 2005

You are so fortunate. I have yet to discover a random stranger on the street (preferably female) who reads my blog on a regular basis, much less is even aware of it.

I really can’t relate to your book selections. Most of them (except the stephen king) are “chick lit”, and those books bore me. I tried reading Pride and Prejudice once, then just threw it down and ended up getting an overdue notice for it. :P

SwAiR | March 28th, 2005

/me hugs my real life fan… and holds on tight…

tell me if you’re suffocating, ok? :p

Purgatory | March 28th, 2005

symbol, soon

Sou | March 28th, 2005

Nomad: AHLAN BEEK! InshAlla i’ll be seening more of you round here ;)

About F, you might know who he is ;p

Almond: Thanks!! YUP! Agatha is amazing!!! Have you read ‘Sparkling Cyanide’?!

Dave: Well you never know, maybe somebody you see everyday reads your blog, and u don’t even know it!! hehehe..very freaky tho :|

I like chick lit, lol, it’s nice to read, but sometimes it makes me feel like there’s no reason to live and that the end of the world is nigh :p hehehe..

SwAiR:I’m not suffocating, yet. Hehehe, but i can feel my ribs cracking! Can you just loosen your grip a bit? Please? hehehe…

Purgy: WHEN?!! Ok, patience is a virtue. I’ll just wait. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick tock….

SwAiR | March 30th, 2005

/me loosens the grip… better?

Sou | March 30th, 2005

Swair: MUCH better, thanx :*

Jenny | March 30th, 2005

I love Agatha Christie - my mum has stacks of them and I went through a phase quite a few years ago when I read all of them back to back. It was great fun :)

moe | March 31st, 2005

Are you dead?

Sou | March 31st, 2005
