I Miss The Mother Land
May 28th 2005 by Sou in Egypt, Music, Personal, TelevisionI hate it when it’s quiet in the house, especially when i’m studying; so i normally turn on the television to any of the music channels, like Melody, Mazzika etc… and keep’em on until i’m done with studying.
The music was playing in the background, song after song….and then this one song started, it didn’t grab my attention at first, and then i heard it…“Masr” (Egypt).
“Hmm..a song about Egypt?” I thought to myself. So i started to listen to the song, watching the faces of Egyptians in the posters in the background of the video, farmer, business man, ballerina, boy, mother, family….And believe it or not, i started to cry, it was more like a little tear trickling down on each cheek, but still, i missed Egypt, i’ve missed it a lot.
And there they were 3 female singers and 3 male singers, singing about Egypt and how wonderful it is, how wonderful it could be. I haven’t been to Egypt since February 2004, and i was only there for 2 weeks, i won’t be travelling to Egypt this summer either, maybe next winter, maybe next summer…who knows?
The song ended, it’s called Law Kona Ben7ebaha (click to listen), fab song! So i switched to Mazzika, another song started; this song started out with a woman singing about how a boy asks his grandfather to teach him how to pray; cute. But then, this man started singing about church weddings–Hmm, hang on, wasn’t the woman singing about a boy asking his grandfather to teach him how to pray in a mosque? Another question: Why are those two singers singing together, they’re not in a band! Hmm, must be another duet to boost their popularity. Who knows..Wait, there’s another man singing, only he’s unknown…Hmmm! *thinks*
“Akeed inta fi Masr” (You’re in Egypt for sure). What?! Did that man just say that? And that’s when it hit me, it was another song about Egypt–ANOTHER ONE?! It was too much to handle, not in a bad way of course!! But i just miss Egypt so MUCH, and these songs weren’t really helping me forget that i was away, and that i hadn’t been there in a little over a year. The name of the song was “Akeed inta fi Masr” and i still can’t find it online to download. Shame.
I miss the Mother Land!
Speaking of “The Mother Land, Egypt’s national soccer team was playing , here in Kuwait today, against Kuwait’s national team (duh!!), it was a friendly match and Egypt won 1-0 (I think, maybe it was 2-0)! YAAY to Egypt!! And “hard luck Kuwait.
Well dahlings, I have to go to bed, it’s getting late for moi! Ta ta for now :*
Update:
I found the second song, and here it is!! Akeed Fi Masr - Enjoy dahlings!! :**

Think of it this way:
You can’t realize the real value of a thing unless you lose it.. but of course you haven’t lost your country; you are just being away. You’ll grow to appreciate each particle of home this way. Take it from me..
UzF: You’re right, and of course i’ll “take it” from you, la2en you’ve been away from home for so long! You’re back now, yay!! :D
Walla I miss your mother land too, babe :)
I’m sure she misses u too dear :)
Hey chica! I’ve seen parts of the video clip of the first song. I never seem to catch it from the beginning. I thought that song was cute, though from what little I’ve seen. I think patriotic songs in general are sweet :) Don’t cry sweetie. Absence makes the heart grow fonder… or something lol I’m just pretending to be all wise and stuff but it’s not working so take care of you! Laters!
P.S. Check your May 19 post :P
Mother land? God I wish I didn’t have to go to mine. England. Dirty, expensive, violent, sullen. Ok, good beer, and pretty villages. But, please.
Don’t worry chuck, you’ve got your whole miserable life ahead. You could even go and live there!
Shurouq: You do?! When was the last time you were there?
Ghada: Aww, that’s soo sweet of you! Welcome here, and do pass by again!! :D
DnG: Don’t underestimate yourself!! I mean, you are being wise, and you’re right, maybe i shouldn’t cry, i mean, i’ll probably be there before i know it, right? (ok, that wasy my poor attempt at being optimistic) *sigh*
Boojam: How patriotic! Lol…well you’ve got to go, the motherland calls :p
My “whole miserable life”, how encouraging :p And live there?!! No comment about that! I mean, i love Egypt and everything, but actually living there is torture! I’m so used to living here, in Kuwait. It’s not my home country, but it’s the country i call home–know what i mean?
How come I didn’t comment on this post.. I remember reading it before there was a comment on it :/ Weird.. Really weird..
I miss my motherland too :P
