Bling!
January 26th 2005 by Sou in Crazy, Fun, Personal, ShoppingIt was 9° this morning (at around 7:10am) AND the weather was AMAZING!! Normally, i would complain on how cold it was, and how my toes were freezing :p This morning on the other hand, the weather was superb!! I walked out of the house and there was a cool breeze, and I actually had to put my sunglasses on because the sun was so bright!!! It was the best winter day i had since…well, it’s the best winter day i’ve ever had!!! I know people in other parts of the globe that are freezing at the moment at temperatures like minus a billion degrees!!! But 9° in Kuwait, is COLD!! hehehe…
I was at the ‘Gold Souk‘ the other day (no, i wasn’t buying anything for myself, i’m not that rich :p) Mommy dearest went to buy a gift for one of her friends, so my grandmother and i tagged along. Numero uno, it was COLD, no, hang on, “cold” is an understatement! it was EXCRUCIATINGLY COLD! I’m not exaggerating when i say i couldn’t feel my knees!! I mean, they were moving, but i couldn’t feel’em :s Slightly veering off the subject :p Ok, so the ‘Gold Souk’. My mom took us to the little and i mean LITTLE jewellery thingie…It was TINY!! i mean, only the jeweller, my mom and grandmother could sit down, i was standing there, in this itsy bitsy jewellery standing, in the cold! And all of a sudden, while admiring all the “bling, bling” and feeling sorry for myself because i couldn’t afford anything :( I hate being broke…well even if i did have money, i still wouldn’t be able to afford anything :p hehehe…so admiring the jewellery (and the fish in the fish bowl—yes, they guy had a fish, i thought it was really nice actually–wow, i thought it was nice, and i’m terrified of fish!! hehehe) Ok i really veered off the subject this time!! Ok, let’s see, where was i, o, right–so i was standing there, and i got cramp in my left foot!! Now, it was cold, i was standing up, my mom was busy checking sparkly things, my grandmother nodding in approval and the jewller, well the jewller was actually feeding the fish (don’t ask) :p I just stood there like a tree, and the pain, O THE PAIN!! it was horrible!! then i stepped out of the store (yes, it took about half a step! hehe) anyways, so i walked around the Gold Souk, felt a little depressed, but hey, who wouldn’t?! hehe…5mins later (in the cold) the cramp disappeared…i went baq to the itsy bitsy jewellery store and there they were, a pair of diamond butterfly earrings and a diamond butterfly necklace. Everything around me stopped! Everything was quiet (well, maybe coz my mom, grandmother and the jeweller stopped talking for a nano-second :p) hehehe…The earrings and necklace sparkled soo much my eyes hurt! hehe…goodness, they probably cost over 500KD!!! I HATE BEING BROKE!!! *sigh*
Moral of the story: If you don’t have money, DON’T go to the ‘Gold Souk’!! Even if you’re being dragged there :p
Time to sign off, ta ta for now :*

I can understand how one can get so mesmerized standing in front of all that glitter :-) Brings back some good memories for me and I just cannot help but smile to myself thinking about similar experiences. I also went to the blogs you listed - pretty good too, the few that I read. Take care in that cold weather over there.
hehe.. i like the fact that your story has a moral, an interesting one too! ;) you’re right.. it’s like being on a diet and going to a resturant.. watching all the ppl eating food that looks irresistibly delicious! that is definetly not the best feeling in the world!
Salam!
I’m glad that you took the time to translate parts of my humble blog, and you enjoyed it.
This morning it was -2C (and *that* is cold :) ).
Keep up the good work.
Hugs,
Batatas
I know exactly how you feel…I got my nose stud replaced today (I had the starter stud still in and it is too big and irritates my nose now)..which was $45 itself. And I asked about getting my nipples done…$155 with rings…plus $110 later for the bars…ouch…not any time soon. Sigh.
Anyway, that sounds like an uber-pretty set. Maybe you’ll get it for a present….
I may not have any money, but that is why God invented credit cards! :)
