AIDS Awareness 2007 | December 1st 2007
It’s international AIDS awareness day, and yet again, it’ll pass unnoticed in this part of the world due to the idiotic branding of AIDS/HIV being taboo.
Do you know there are 380,000 people living with AIDS in the Middle East and North Africa. This year alone, 35,000 people were diagnosed, and 25,000 died from the disease. I didn’t come up with the statistics, these are recent statistics provided by the UN released November 19th.
I can’t do much about raising awareness in Kuwait “officially”, so I’ll suffice by wearing my ribbon throughout the month of December in hopes that people will ask me what it symbolises - that alone is awareness.
